Black & White Home Decor Inspiration

So while browsing for some inspiration, I came across some inspiration I think I'll be using in my own home...

The first is a design by Judith Balis of Nest Instinctual Interiors (based in Boise, Idaho). I'm seriously in LOVE with the blue turquoise walls paired with the pink chairs and the striped black and white sofa. Seriously, I could only dream of a house that gorgeous.

I don't know the designers of these other photos I found.. Though I wish I did (I also wish that Judith Balis lived quite a bit closer... But, I digress...)

I'm loving the matte black walls here paired with the crisp color of the couch.

I also love that the color is extended up onto the ceiling in this design. (Of course, I also love the blue chairs, but that's another story.)

Happy Monday, everyone.

101 Black and White Decor Items for Under $101

Today's post is focusing entirely on wall art, because really, a room isn't complete without a little bit of art.

Now, granted I have a bias (I love urban-themed art,) I did manage to sneak in a few items for those who are less-than-thrilled about the loft/urban/city look.

1930s print, 'Men on Girder' from AllPosters.com - $6.99 (plus shipping.) WELL worth the price considering this print is 24 by 36 inches. Plus, it's comical, it's inspiring, it's... a lot of things. (Isn't a picture worth a thousand words?)

Something a little less city, a little more cottage-cabin-out-by-lake-Michigan. ;) These are the Stray Dog Sea Life Plaques from West Elm, ranging in price from $39 to $49 (plus shipping), depending on which size/pattern you choose.

I -love- World Market. LOVE. I love going there. 'Nuff said. Boho Multi-Stem Wall Decor from World Market, $39.99 (plus shipping).

And finally, the piece d'resistence (probably not the correct spelling, but whatev.) -- My favorite (and I intend to buy this piece for my own office, mind you,) the Cityscape New York City Print from Crate & Barrel. It's a bit more at $69.95 -- but I absolutely LOVE architectural drawings. I have a few from Frank Lloyd Wright I'd like to put up on my walls too... But I digress.

Happy Monday, everyone!

Black Bedroom Decor

A black bedroom is one of those things I'm still torn on (which is probably why I'm doing gray in my own bedroom). I love for my bedroom to be as dark as possible when I'm going to bed at night, but in the morning, I think I'd be quite depressed with black walls.

But, despite all that, I still love these bedrooms. (Especially the ones with the chandeliers,) so check 'em out.

Okay, okay. So they don't all have black walls. But, they're all black and white. So, there.

On a future note, I need to start saving the info of where I got these photos. I've had them in a folder in my desktop for several months now and I'd love to know who designed each of them so I could follow those designers but... I wasn't that smart back when I was looking through things. So, if I ever find out who designed a room I came across, I'll be sure to share because a) they are obviously fantastic if I like them and b) they deserve the credit and c) maybe someone out there wants to hire them to design a room and d) all other reasons not already covered.

Ah well.

101 Black and White Decor Items for Under $101

A new weekly segment! Every Tuesday you'll find an update on black and white decor items that are budget-friendly, coming in at under $101.

I'm a big fan of industrial modern, so when I saw this table over at Urban Outfitters, I fell in love, of course! Plus, at $64, it's a nice little accent table to add to any room.

Of course, I was ecstatic to find yet another table under $101, which for me is a big deal. I to this day, have not purchased any side tables, because I hate how much they always seem to cost. This one's only $79.00, also from Urban Outfitters. I love the coil design, it would make a great conversation piece!

The exterior of our rental home is gray, so it seems only natural to pick out some matching planters (though I admit to having a few in pops of yellow). These blackened planters range from $59 to $79 at West Elm, depending on what size you choose. But, their matte finish looks great and would fit well into a modern or contemporary landscaped home.

Ask my husband, I love, love, LOVE eclectic stuff. So, it's no surprise that I love these little hooks. $58 for six hooks at Garnet Hill.

No home is complete without some wall art. I love this print by Parvez Taj, it reminds me of a night in Paris. Price ranges from $36 to $638 at 2Modern.com, depending on how big of a print you get and what style canvas (stretched or rolled) you choose. Not to worry though, the smallest size is 18 by 12, so you're getting a fantastic deal!

And last but no least, you gotta have some comfort in your house! For $40 at 2Modern.com, you can get one of these wonderful little striped numbers. I have a thing for stripes and these thinner stripes are elegant and classy, but casual all at the same time.

Happy decorating!

Black and White Wallpaper

So as I was browsing through some inspiration, I came across some gorgeous black and white wallpapers that I would *love* to use. Unfortunately, we're only renting so wallpaper is not an option. I know what you're thinking, "what?! Wallpaper? That's so outdated!" But alas, wallpaper is coming back, ladies and gents! Here are some of my recent favorites, available at AllModern.com.

Graham & Brown: Heritage Charcoal Wallpaper by ECO - $60 at AllModern.com.

Ferm LIVING: Branch Wallsmart Wallpaper - $110 at AllModern.com.

Graham & Brown: Solitude Black/Silver Wallpaper by Superfresco - $50 at AllModern.com.

And a new feature I'm thinking about starting at the end of every blog post... Jenne's Daily Finds, where I'll feature awesome stuff I find and would probably buy for myself. So here's today's find:

Eclipse Clock, $249 at CB2.com -- I love, love, LOVE how big this clock is! It's so simple but bold, it really makes a statement thanks to its grand size.

Happy Decorating!

New Beginnings

So, without further delay, I present my first official design blog! It's not much, but it's a start.

Let me start off by saying that if there is ever a photograph present on this website that you would like removed, please email me! I do not wish to steal anything and will always give credit due where it is needed (unless I can't remember who/where I got the picture from, in which case--I apologize a thousand times over :).

So before I begin starting up on real posts, I just want to share some photos that have inspired me along the way.

I wish I would have saved the info as to where this picture came from. I am in LOVE with the combination of the stripes with the old world table and buffet. The accent lamps with the black shades and shiny metal bases are to. die. for.  This picture is a great example of how my husband and I have to compromise on design. He's old school, industrial; and I'm modern, trendy and chic. Well, at least in aspects of design! :]

I'm a fan of white kitchens, though I may never have one myself. Then again, I'm a fan of brightly colored kitchens too. But, I imagine those might be a bit easier to keep clean than an all-white kitchen. :]

Love the black and white wallpaper paired with the vibrant yellow.

I love this idea!

Okay, this isn't really necessarily black & white. But, it's gray. That's pretty close, right? Besides, I love the shades of gray combined with the chest, the tufted chairs and the gorgeous water art up on the wall. :]

Love the rug!

A favorite of mine. Love this dining room and I especially love the chandelier! :]

This kitchen was recently featured in Apartment Therapy.  It's a perfect example of Industrial Modern and a great example of what my husband and I would like to accomplish one day when we finally buy our own home. (Of course, with a few splashes of color thrown in. :)

This picture is from the same blog at AT. Another great example of Industrial Modern!

Love the floor, love the brick, love the cabinets! Love, love, love.

Especially love the dog silhouette and the little Eames chair in the TV stand.

I LOVE these stools. I wish I had saved the info about this picture, but if I recall correctly, the stools are made from old springs on some vehicle or machinery of some sort.

And so, with my first post under my belt, I bid you adieu.
